What is VWCA?

The Virginia Water Community Association is a registered charity (registered number 274809) set up in 1947 for the purpose of "providing facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation for the inhabitants of Virginia Water and the neighbourhood".

What does VWCA do?

The Association maintains and manages a modern Community Centre in the heart of Virginia Water.  The Centre was built in 1994, financed by local support and fund-raising with assistance from Runnymede Borough Council and Surrey County Council, to replace the original Centre built in 1950.

How does VWCA operate?

The Association is run by volunteers, local residents working in various groups to provide services to their neighbourhood.

  • The Executive Committee administers the Community Centre in Beechmont Avenue including lettings and upkeep
  • The Social Sub-Committee organises social events (See Events Diary for the current programme).
  • The Carnival Capers Sub-Committee runs an annual fête on the last Saturday in June for the whole village
  • A Horticultural, Handicraft, Cookery And Home-made Wine “Annual Show” is held on the second Sunday in September
  • The VW Horticultural Society and Wine Circle are constituent members of the VWCA .

Are VWCA's facilities open to the public?

  • The Centre is available for hire to groups or individuals, whether or not members of VWCA
  • VWCA social events are also open to anyone
  • Members of VWCA are eligible for reduced hire and admission rates.
